Ebony Jenkins, is an Engineer, Community Risk Reduction Coordinator, and Fire & Life Safety Educator with the Awendaw-McClellanville Consolidated Fire District. She was also the first African American and first female Chief of Santee Circle Rural Volunteer Fire Department. Ebony has been in the fire service for 13 years. She is also the CO-CEO of Long Time Coming ENT where she is an artist, model and actress. Tune in to find out more about Ebony and all the work she does in helping the community as a firefighter.

I chat with Isabella, Brittney, Ashanti, and Ty, recent Charleston County EMS EMT Academy graduates. The academy which operates under Charleston County Government Public Safety Directorate was created as a community-based program to attract and recruit individuals from Charleston who are interested in pursuing a career in the medical field. The Academy’s main objective is to address staffing issues and promote diversity in the medical field by providing a platform for aspiring EMTs to receive paid training and education. Tune in to hear from this amazing group of young EMTs, as they share what motivated them to become an EMT, their experiences going through the Academy, what it's like working in public safety, and their future plans.

I chat with19 year old Mi'Anna Anderson, as a high school junior Mi'Anna participated in Charleston County Government Public Safety’s Student Leadership Intern Program, (SLIP) she completed the program in August, and is now in training to become a 9-1-1 Telecommunicator with Charleston County Consolidated Emergency Communications Center. SLIP is a paid internship two-year program for high school students that provides career readiness and training in addition to industry recognized certifications and credentials for EMS and 9-1-1

I chat with LaToya Geddis about the work she does and the non profit organization SC Thrive. LaToya is passionate about people, and being in positions to help her community flourish. She is a Training Coordinator with SC Thrive, the ONLY agency in SC that allows residents to do one application at once for several state programs such as Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP, and more! They provide efficient access to resources so people throughout the state can move towards stability. They also provide several training classes for Mental Health First Aid and Financial Wellness for partners and the community.
