Chardale Murray - BHM Spotlight Series

I chat with Chardale Murray, businesswoman and Mayor of the Town of Hollywood SC. Chardale is the Owner of Murray's Mortuary which has been serving families of the Lowcountry for 20 years. Chardale’s work in funeral services began in March of 2000, when she passed the state's licensing test to become one of the area's youngest funeral directors. Chardale also owns Murray’s Executive LLC, a trucking company, as well as several other businesses. Chardale began her eighteen month term as the Town of Hollywood’s Town Council member on July 1, 2019, and on November 3, 2020, she was elected to the SC House of Representatives, becoming the first African American woman to hold this position for District 116. In November of 2023, Chardale was elected to be the new Mayor of the Town of Hollywood. Since being elected Mayor Murray has taken the town by storm! Tune in as she highlights all of the great things she has accomplished for the residents of Hollywood, and her future plans for the town.

 

Shontea Jones-Taylor - WHM Spotlight Series

Katrina Carpenter - Jean's Angels BHM Spotlight Series

Tune in as I chat with Katrina Carpenter, Founder and Executive Director of the non-profit organization Jean's Angels. When Katrina lost her mother to ovarian cancer, father to heart failure, and her two brothers to suicide, she turned her pain into purpose, and made it her personal mission to give back to the community, by providing with hot showers, hot meals, and clean clothes to the homeless, and support to children that have lost a parent(s) underserved youth, single-parent homes, or families that are displaced because of fire or domestic violence. Jean’s Angels assists them with compassion, sympathy, dignity, and basic necessities such as household items, toiletries, brand new clothes, she even provides toys kids, she even takes a group of children to Disney every year!

 

 

 

Amber Wilsondebriano - BHM Spotlight Series

Tune in as I chat with 17 year old senior Amber Wilsondebriano, the first Black Homecoming Queen in Porter-Gaud High School’s 155 year history. Amber is a phenomenal young lady doing AMAZING things!! With a 4.66 GPA she is one of Porter-Gaud's best students. She is also the co-founder of Porter Gaud’s Black Excellence Society, a safe space where Black students can come together to find ways to bring more diversity to the school.

 

Amber is also the first American Heart Association Teen of Impact nominee, where she is working to help improve the health of our communities, and spread awareness among women about our greatest health threat, heart disease.

 

Chevalo Wilsondebriano - BHM Spotlight Series

Tune to hear Chevalo Wilsondebriano, former FDNY and 9/11 Survivor share the harrowing details of that tragic day, and how it has affected his life to this day. On Sept. 11th, 2001, Chevalo answered the call and responded to the deadliest act of terrorism in human history, the site of the World Trade Center (Twin Towers) once he arrived at Ground Zero, as a FDNY Paramedic he immediately began to render aid to victims, until he no longer could and had to make the ultimate choice to literally run for his life! Chevalo shares his story to NEVER FORGET!!! .

 

8 years later Chevalo retired from FDNY, and moved to Charleston where he and his wife Monique started their successful business, Charleston Gourmet Burger Company, and Recipe For Retail where they help other people get their products in stores.
